Future perfect
Called Futur II in German, the construction used for future perfect is werden+participle+sein/haben The future perfect may express activities that will have been completed in the future. In this function, however, it is used extremely rarely. It is used more often in speculations about the past. Example sentences:
- Er wird doch nicht in den falschen Zug gestiegen sein. (He didn't get on the wrong train, did he!)
- Ich werde doch meine Karte nicht zu Hause gelassen haben. (I did not leave my ticket at home, did I?)
- Sie wird sich doch noch an dich erinnert haben. (She must have remembered you!)
Passive voice
The passive voice is constructed by using forms of werden (werden, wird, wurde, worden) with the perfect participle. If an agent, which imposes the action on the subject, is mentioned, the preposition von is used. Examples:
- Der Auftrag wird [von der Bank] bearbeitet. (The transaction is being processed [by the bank].)
- Der Auftrag wurde [von der Bank] bearbeitet. (The transaction was processed [by the bank].)
- Der Auftrag ist [von der Bank] bearbeitet worden. (The transaction has been processed [by the bank].)
